| Notes on loss | At 23.09 hours on 9 May 1941, the City of Winchester (Master William Samuel Coughlan), dispersed on 28 April from convoy OB-313, was hit by one of two torpedoes from U-103 and sank after being hit amidships by a coup de grâce at 23.46 hours about 400 miles south-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands. Six crew members were lost. The master, 84 crew members and seven gunners were picked up by the Norwegian motor merchant Herma and landed at Takoradi. | ||
