Attacks on U-514 during this patrol

17 Apr 1943
The outbound boat was unsuccessfully attacked twice by aircraft in the Bay of Biscay. The first attack was made by a British Wellington aircraft (RAF Sqdn 172 / S) with gunfire and 2 bombs at 03.49 hours. At 14.28 hours, a second attack was carried out by the British Whitley aircraft (RAF Sqdn 10 OTU / H) with 4 bombs. (Sources: Rohwer)
