The boat was attacked by a British aircraft. The boat dived to 160 meters and suffered some damage.
16 Nov 1939
Two British destroyers, HMS Echo and HMS Wanderer. The boat was pushed down to 557 feet, by far the deepest U-boat had ever gone before she escaped. (Sources: Blair, vol 1, page 119)
