Fate

Scuttled on 3 May 1945 at Kiel. Wreck broken up in 1946.

Final location

Some sources* claim that U-560 was sunk in November 1941 in the Baltic Sea near Memel, position unknown, after a collision and was also raised in 1941. This can not be confirmed from primary sources and apparently the fate of U-580 was mixed up with the career of U-560.

* Last seen in Paul Kemp: U-boats destroyed (see review). He even places this accident in November 1940, which is absolutely impossible.

Men lost from U-boats

Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-560 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
