| History | Northern fleet. ShCh-421 was mined on minefield Ursula on 8 April 1942 and heavily damaged. All power was lost and the submarine was near enemy shores. The crew made a sail of canvas cover and managed to sail out of the hazardous area. All crew was taken to K-22 on 9 April 1942 and after this K-22 sank ShCh-421 by torpedo. Nobody was lost. |

At 2030 hours, ShCh-421 attacks a German convoy off Nordkapp, Norway (west of the Porsangenfjord) and fires four torpedoes. The German merchant Nicole Schiaffino (4974 GRT) was missed in this attack.
1 Feb 1942
At 1247 hours, ShCh-421 attacks the German minelayer Brummer escorted by the German auxiliary minesweepers M 1501 and M 1502 with two torpedoes in the Porsangenfjord in position 70º55'N, 26º05'E. Both torpedoes failed to hit Brummer.
