She served mainly in the Atlantic during WWII and this ship carried out the only fleet carrier attack in the Atlantic during the war.

Decommissioned 18 October 1946.
Stricken 29 October 1946.
Sold 28 January 1947 and scrapped at Chester, Pennsylvaina starting in February 1947.
