History

The unfinished Jean Bart (77% complete) left St.Nazaire under her own power on 19 June 1940 escorted by the brand new destroyers Le Hardi and Mameluk and arrived at Casablanca on 22 june 1940.
Jean Bart had only one 15" turret installed.
The ship was badly damaged by US warships during the invasion of North Africa in November 1942.
After the war the ship was towed to Brest and completion work began there in 1946.
The ship was only completed to a modified design in 1955.
Saw action during the Suez assault of 1956.
Stricken in January 1961.
Hulked as accommodation ship at Toulon and scrapped in 1970.
