Decommissioned on 6 June 1922.
Reclassified as Light Minelayer DM-17 on 5 January 1931.
Recommissioned on 20 August 1931.
Decommissioned on 7 December 1937.
Recommissioned on 25 September 1939.
Montgomery was damaged beyond repair by a mine in Ngulu Lagoon in the Caroline Islands on 17 October 1944.
Decommissioned on 23 April 1945.
Stricken on 28 April 1945.
Sold to be broken up for scrap on 11 March 1946.
