U-864 to be raised after all

Posted on: 31 Jan 2009 at 23:19.

The U-864, sunk in Feb 1945 carrying about 70 tons of mercury, is to be raised from the seabed west of Bergen. The plan that seemed to be decided was to encase the wreck in concrete shell to contain the pollution from the mercury. now the authorities have decided to raise the wreck and discard the pollutants on shore.
