24 Jun 1942. The British submarine HMS Ultimatum fired a spread of four torpedoes from a distance of 7000 yards (6400m) at U-77 north of Tobruk in position 34°20N/24°09E. The submarine claimed a possible hit, but the U-boat only reported being shaken by two detonations at 07.10 hrs in grid CO 5365.
