Career information

Lambert was the Senior RN Beach Party Commander for the Dieppe Raid (Operation Jubilee) on 19 August 1942. He landed on White Beach at approx. 0522 hours with the first wave of RHLI with his RN Beach Party Commandos HQ. He was captured after the battle and spent the rest of the war as a PoW, initially at Orlaf VIIB and than Marlag O. He took part in and survived the 'Death March' from 7 April until he was liberated 3 May 1945. He was awarded his DSC for his actions during the Dieppe Raid when organising the withdraw under extremely heavy enemy fire.
