During here 7th war patrol USS Stingray (Lt.Cdr. O.J. Earle) torpedoed and sank the Japanese transport ship Tamon Maru (8156 GRT) off Wenzhou, China in position 27°18'N, 121°38'E.

USS Stingray (Lt.Cdr. O.J. Earle) leaves Pearl Harbor for her 8th war patrol. She was ordered to patrol in the Caroline Islands area.

31 Jul 1943
USS Stingray (Lt.Cdr. O.J. Earle) ended her 8th war patrol at Brisbane, Australia.

23 Aug 1943
USS Stingray (Lt.Cdr. O.J. Earle) leaves Brisbane for her 9th war patrol. She was ordered to patrol in the Admiralty Islands area.
