After two more "special missions" USS Stingray (Lt.Cdr. Howard F. Stoner) leaves base for her 16th and final war patrol. She was ordered to land parties on Nipanipa Peninsula, Celebes; Kagean Island; Pare Pare Bay, Celebes; and another at Nipanipa Peninsula, Celebes. With this mission completed she arrived at Fremantle, Australia on 23 February. Stingray was now assigned to training duties and she was sent to the U.S. east coast. she arrived at New London on 29 April 1945.
