Scuttled on 5 May 1945 at Hamburg-Finkenwerder in box No.3 of U-boat pen Fink II, in position 53.32,6N, 09.51.3E, after being badly damaged in the U-boat pen by bombs during US air raid (8th AF) on 9 April 1945. Wreck broken up.
Men lost from U-boats
Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-747 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
