Trout surfaces to sink the ship with gunfire but 7 of her crew were wounded by gunfire from the Japanese ship. Lt.Cdr. Ramage then decided to finish off the Japanese ship with a torpedo.

Parche also teams up with USS Steelhead to sink the Japanese army cargo ship Yoshino Maru (8990 GRT) in position 19°05'N, 120°50'E.
