USS Porpoise (Lt.Cdr. Carter Lowe Bennett) left Pearl Harbor for her sixth and last war patrol, and was to patrol in the Marshall Islands area.

19 Jul 1943 (position 18.45, 166.04)
USS Porpoise (Lt.Cdr. C.L. Bennett) torpedoed and sank the Japanese troop transport Mikage Maru Nr.20 (2718 GRT) south of Wake Island in position 18°45'N, 166°04'E.

28 Jul 1943
USS Porpoise (Lt.Cdr. C.L. Bennett) ended her last war patrol when she returned to Pearl Harbor. Due to the fact that the boat continued to suffer from leaking external oil tanks and the fact that more and more new fleet submarines arrived in the Pacific USS Porpoise was retired to training duties. The boat arrived at New London on the U.S. east coast in September 1943.

USS Permit (Lt.Cdr. C.L. Bennett) torpedoed and damaged the Japanese aircraft transport Fujikawa Maru (6938 GRT, offsite link) off Kwajalein in position 08°23'N, 165°12'E.

USS Permit (Lt.Cdr. C.L. Bennett) torpedoed and damaged the Japanese fleet tanker Shiretoko (14050 GRT, offsite link) off Kwajalein in position 08°33'N, 164°40'E.

USS Permit (Lt.Cdr. Carter Lowe Bennett) ended her 10th war patrol when she returns to base at Pearl Harbor. Her 11th war patrol was in the Caroline Islands area from early January 1944 to mid-March 1944. Her 12th war patrol was in the same area where she was on lifeguard duty.

USS Sea Owl (Cdr. C.L. Bennett) torpedoed and sank the Japanese auxiliary submarine chaser Cha 76 (130 tons) in the East China Sea in position 33°48'N, 128°20'E.

15 Jan 1945
USS Sea Owl (Cmdr Carter Lowe Bennett) ended her 1st war patrol at Guam, and departed from later for her 2nd war patrol; and is assigned to patrol the Luzon Strait.

18 Apr 1945
USS Sea Owl (Cdr. C.L. Bennett) attacked the Japanese submarine I-372 (offsite link) while this submarine is unloading it's cargo at Wake Island. Cdr. Bennett fires three torpedoes, two are duds and one hit the pier the I-372 is moored at. The Japanese submarine crash-dives and continues unloading it's cargo the next day.

21 Apr 1945
USS Sea Owl (Cdr. C.L. Bennett) ended her 2nd war patrol at Midway.
