Notes on event

At 14.09 hours on 24 Aug 1942 the unescorted Kujbyshev (Master I.V. Tokovenko) was hit by one torpedo from U-601 and sank immediately northwest of Dikson. The ship had the harbour tug Medvezhonok (approx. 50 tons) in tow, which was sunk by 20 rounds from the deck gun at 14.42 hours. The xB-Dienst reported the victim as the Soviet steam merchant Valerian Kujbyshev (4629 grt).
