Personal information
Son of Thomas and Charlotte Stephenson; husband of Gladys Mary Stephenson, of Kirk Ella. He was injured in the sinking of Hartlebury and later died of a head trauma.
Award Citation for the Distinguished Service Cross as published in London Gazette on 31 August 1943:
For good seamanship, fortitude and courage while under continuous attack from the enemy in Northern Waters.
