Son of James and Euphemia Lawrie; husband of Sigrid E. Lawrie, of Troon, Ayshire. He was awarded the DSO, DSC, Bar to the DSC and Order of the Red Banner as Lieutenant in the RNR for services in action with enemy submarines during the First World War.
