Herbert McCall lived on the LAGO Refinery complex with his family and had a bungalow on the beach front opposite the anchorage off San Nicholas, Aruba. His son Bryan woke up when his father’s tanker Pedernales erupted in flames and ran out to the beach. There he watched the attack and saw the burning ships. His father survived and reached the shore in a lifeboat.
