George William Briscoe swam to a nearby raft after the sinking of Etrib, eventually boarded an empty lifeboat and was rescued by U-106 on 24 June. Five days later he was landed at Lorient and transferred to the PoW camp Marlag and Milag Nord (PoW No. 710).
