Personal information
Son of James and Mary Whitters, of Moville, Co. Donegal. Husband of Annie Josephine White and father of two sons, of Londonderry. Charles Whitters had served in the Royal Navy as crew member aboard HMS Hood until 1937 and then joined the Merchant Navy. He survived the sinking of Vulcain, was interned by the Vichy French and later repatriated from Freetown to Greenock aboard Sobieski.
