Personal information
Next of kin: Mrs. O. Brien, of Newport. Manuel Pestano was interned by the Vichy French authorities after the sinking of Allende, but as citizen of a neutral country not kept with the other survivors in Timbuktu. He was repatriated to Portugese Guinea and boarded Oronsay on 16 June 1942 to return to the UK, arriving in Scotland on 30 June 1942.
