Son of Mrs. H.M. Kellogg, of Milford, CT. He survived the sinking of the American barque Windrush, which sank with the loss of five crewmen after a collision with the Spanish merchant Buenos Aires about 1000 nautical miles east of Sandy Hook, NJ.
