| History | Completed in September 1921 as French Lorient for Compagnie Delmas-Vieljeux, Paris. On 18 Feb 1941, the Vichy French ship was captured by the British ocean boarding vessel HMS Marsdale west of the Canary Islands in 28°12N/12°23W and taken to Gibraltar, where she was taken over by the Ministry of War Transport (MoWT). | ||
| Notes on event | On 4 May 1943 the Lorient (Master Walter John Manley), a straggler from convoy ONS-5, was torpedoed and sunk by U-125 south of Cape Farewell. The master, 40 crew members and five gunners were lost. | ||
