History Completed in December 1900 as German Gouverneur Jaeschke for M. Jebsen, Apenrade. The ship left Tsingtao in August 1914 and was later interned in Hawaii. In April 1917 seized by the US Government and renamed Watauga by US Shipping Board (USSB). 1920 sold to Cuba and renamed Guantanamo for Empresa Naviera de Cuba SA, Havana. On 16 Dec 1933, bought by the Dominican Republic, converted to a military transport and renamed Presidente Trujillo. In November 1938, the ship was demilitarized and handed over to the Naviera Dominicana, which began to operate her on trading routes to the Antilles, the Gulf of Mexico and Miami on 1 Jan 1939. 
Notes on event

At 18.29 hours on 21 May 1942 the unescorted Presidente Trujillo was hit aft by a G7a torpedo from U-156 just after leaving Fort de France and sank within four minutes. The ship was armed with one 75mm gun and three AA machine guns.
