Notes on event

At 15.00 hours on 21 Aug 1943 the Namaz was sunk by U-596 with 13 rounds from the deck gun about 40 miles west-southwest of Beirut. The crew left the sailing vessel in a lifeboat before it was attacked and made landfall at Tyre, Lebanon.
