Notes on event

On 15 Jan 1945 the unescorted Maja (Master William Cecil Robinson) was torpedoed and sunk by U-1055 southeast of Drogheda. 17 crew members and eight gunners were lost. The master, 37 crew members and two gunners were picked up by the Belgian trawler Hendrik Conscience and landed at Holyhead.
