Notes on classShipping in the English Channel became a priority U-boat target following the Normandy invasion. Invasion shipping escorts were vulnerable to aircraft attack. Loch class frigates under construction substituted anti-aircraft guns for some of their ASW weapons, and were re-designated Bay class.
