Accidentally sunk by US aircraft off Cape Lambert, Bismarck Archipelago in position 04º13'S, 151º27'E.9 of the crew were killed which include the Commanding officer Burk and the Observer Lt Colonel Joseph B, Pettit USA.11 survived the sinking though 9 were wounded which include the Commanding officer of MTBSQ25 James P,Thompson USNR and the observer Lt Eric Mervyn Howitt RANVR.
