History

Laid Down as the HMS Capel BDE 45. Commissioned on 15 March 1943 as the USS Andres DE 45.

End Service on 18 Oct 1945 at the Charleston Navy Yard.

Stricken 1 November 1945.

Scrapped in Feb 1946.

First DE Commissioned in the Atlantic Fleet. First DE to go to Bermuda for shakedown. Used mostly as a training ship, but made three convoys from Norfolk, VA to Oran, Algeria, and back.
