During 26/27 December 1944, Giovanni da Procida (T.V.(Lt.) F. Castracane Degli Antelminelli) conducted A/S exercises off Bermuda with aircraft from USS Card (T/Capt. Rufus Calhoun Young, Jr., USN, also COMTASKGR 22.2). [USS Card was not at sea, she was anchored off Bermuda, her aircraft operated from the airfield.] During the exercises USS Breeman (Lt. A.J. McCrudden, USNR) provided close escort for the submarine. The exercises included night exercises.
