USS Bennett picks up 57 survivors from the American merchant John Sevier that was torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-185 about 20 nautical miles south-west of Great Inagua Island in position 20°49'N, 74°00'W.

USS Searaven (T/Lt.Cdr. T.M. Ustick, USN) conducted A/S exercises off Pearl Harbour with USS Bennett (T/Cdr. J.N. McDonald, Jr., USN) and USS Anthony (T/Cdr. C.J. van Arsdall, Jr., USN). (1)
