Giovanni da Procida (T.V.(Lt.) F. Castracane Degli Antelminelli) participated in A/S exercises off Bermuda with a hunter / killer group made up of USS Compton (T/Cdr. R.O. Strange, USN), USS Presley (Lt.Cdr. R.S. Paret, USNR), USS Charles E. Brannon (T/Cdr. D.W. Todd, USN) and USS Key West (Lt.Cdr. B. Papanek, USCGR). 9726 USS YMS-306 (Lt. W.W. Turner, USNR) was also in the area as close escort for the submarine.
