History | USS Vincennes (Captain Frederick Louis Riefkohl) was sunk at Savo Island by Japanese warships. 349 of her crew died in the loss and 812 survivors were rescued by the USS Bagley/Buchanan/Helm and Wilson and 292 were wounded which includes the Commanding officer Riefkohl. |
