History

Originally to be named Tasman but renamed Talent in April 1945. On 15 December 1954 HMS Talent(iii) swept out of drydock at Chatham Dockyard when the dock gate lifted. Thick fog, night-fall and high tides hampered the search & rescue operations. She was not found until next day when it became clear that the accident had claimed four lives. Reconstructed in 1955. Damaged in a collision while dived off the Isle of Wight on 8 May 1956. Talent was visited by over 33000 people during a month-long publicity trip around the south and east coasts of England in October 1960. Refitted at Malta during late 1960 - early 1961. Thereafter active in the Mediterranian. Returned to the UK in May 1962. Decommissioned in 1966. Scrapped at Troon, Scotland on 1 February 1970.
