USS S-37 (Lt. J.R. Reynolds) torpedoed and sank the Japanese transport Tenzan Maru (2775 GRT) about 30 nautical miles west-north-west of Rabaul in position 04°00'S, 151°50'E. S-37 is depth charged by the Japanese submarine chaser Ch-30 but she is able to escape undamaged.

21 Jul 1942
USS S-37 (Lt. J.R. Reynolds) ended her 5th war patrol at Brisbane.

17 Aug 1942
USS S-37 (Lt. T.S. Baskett) departed from Brisbane for her 6th war patrol. She was ordered to patrol off Guadalcanal.

13 Sep 1942
USS S-37 (Lt. T.S. Baskett) ended her 6th war patrol at Brisbane.

19 Oct 1942
USS S-37 (Lt. T.S. Baskett) departed from Brisbane for her 7th (and final) war patrol. She was ordered to proceed to Noumea to make a defensive patrol in that area.
