Ordered and laid down as fleet ocean tug USS Yurok (AT-164)
Redesignated submarine rescue ship USS Yurok(ASR-12) on 7 November 1945
Renamed USS Penguin on 3 December 1945
Decommissioned on 15 August 1950 and transferred to the Turkish Navy being renamed Kurtaran
As of 2003 Kurtaran is still in service with the Turkish Navy
