Notable events involving YMS-52 include:
1946
Prior to decommissioning, Lt. Silkworth was the
the senior line officer of a task unit consisting of 15 YMSs, a gunboat and an LST. As such, he was, in effect, Commander of the task unit. Such a role would normally have required at least a Lt.Cmdr.
The crew was told that after decommissioning the ship would be turned over to the (Nationalist) Chinese, then still on mainland China. (1)
19 Jun 1946
Decommissioned at Guian, Samar in the Philippines after check-sweeping many small harbours in the Philippine Islands and New Guinea. (1)
