Converted to a survey ship and named Simon Newcomb (AGS 14) on 20 March 1945
Reclassified as coastal survey ship AGSC-14 on 29 July 1946
On 9 August she ran hard aground at Mother Burns Cove, Labrador
She was refloated, patched up, and towed to Norfolk
Decommissioned on 10 November 1949
Stricken on 31 January 1950
Sold to be broken up for scrap on 25 April 1950
