Spindler incorrectly identifies U 19 as having sunk Arctic when U 19 actually sank Star of the West. Identity of which U-boat sank Arctic is uncertain; loss to German torpedo boat (destroyer) or mine cannot be ruled out. Master Ernest Pesterfield was among those killed in this action.
