Personal informationErnest Randle was one of the twelve survivors from Coimbra who survived the sinking in a swamped lifeboat, but only the chief officer and he were still alive when USS Rowan located them about 12 hours later. He was hospitalized until 24 February after being landed at Argentia, Newfoundland on 23 January 1942.
