History Completed in March 1935 as steam trawler Kingston Ceylonite for Kingston Steam Trawling Co Ltd, Hull. In September 1939 requisitioned by the Admiralty and converted to the A/S trawler HMS Kingston Ceylonite (FY 214). Lent to the US Navy in February 1942. 
Notes on event

On 15 June 1942 convoy KN-109 came into a minefield laid on 11 June by U-701 off Virginia Beach. HMS Kingston Ceylonite (FY 214) (A/Skipper Lt W.McK. Smith, RNR) sank and the tankers Robert C. Tuttle and Esso Augusta, along with the destroyer USS Bainbridge (DD 246) were damaged.
