History

Built as British Myrica of 97 grt. In November 1925 sold to Iceland and renamed Frodi (IS 454). 1941 lengthened.

On 9 Feb 1942, the Frodi was en route from Stykkisholmur to Grundarfjordur in coastal cargo service, when she ran aground and sank on Vesturbodi, Sneafellsnes.

 
Notes on event

Around 08.00 hours on 11 March 1941 the Frodi (Master Gunnar Jens Árnason) was attacked three times by U-74 with 2cm gunfire about 192 miles southeast of Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland. The vessel was heavily damaged by gunfire but reached Vestmannaeyjar the next day and Reykjavik on 15 March.
