History

Northern fleet.

ShCh-421 was mined on minefield Ursula on 8 April 1942 and heavily damaged. All power was lost and the submarine was near enemy shores. The crew made a sail of canvas cover and managed to sail out of the hazardous area. All crew was taken to K-22 on 9 April 1942 and after this K-22 sank ShCh-421 by torpedo. Nobody was lost.

At 1326 hours ShCh-421 fires two torpedoes against the German merchant Joao Pessoa (3023 GRT) in Lopphavet in position 70°20'N, 20°30'E. Both torpedoes missed their target.

9 Nov 1941
At 1653 hours ShCh-421 fires two torpedoes against the German tanker Weissenburg (6281 GRT) in Lopphavet. Both torpedoes missed their target.

10 Nov 1941
At 1242 hours ShCh-421 fires two torpedoes against the German tanker Weissenburg (6281 GRT) in Lopphavet in position 70°09'N, 21°12'E. Once again both torpedoes missed their target.

13 Dec 1941
At 1356 hours, ShCh-421 fires four torpedoes against the Norwegian merchant Mimona (1147 GRT, offsite link) off the Persfjord in position 70°30'N, 30°55'E. All torpedoes fired missed their target.

26 Jan 1942
At 2030 hours, ShCh-421 attacked a German convoy off Nordkapp, Norway (west of the Porsangenfjord) and fires four torpedoes. The German merchant Nicole Schiaffino (4974 GRT) was missed in this attack.

1 Feb 1942
At 1247 hours, ShCh-421 attacked the German minelayer Brummer escorted by the German auxiliary minesweepers M 1501 and M 1502 with two torpedoes in the Porsangenfjord in position 70°55'N, 26°05'E. Both torpedoes failed to hit Brummer.

5 Feb 1942
At 1402 hours, ShCh-421 attacked a German convoy and torpedoed and sank the German merchant Konsul Schulte (2975 GRT) in the Porsangenfjord in position 70°54'N, 26°02'E.

28 Mar 1942
At 1538 hours, ShCh-421 attacks a convoy off the Laksfjord. Four torpedoes are fired. The Norwegian merchants Moshill (2959 GRT, offsite link) was missed in this attack.
